"You volunteer because you get a good feeling about what you can do and the impact you can make. And the young woman who says, 'I didn't have any goals or direction before I entered this program, and all of a sudden I know where I'm going now. I know what I want. This has given me a focus.' That's nice to see. The Miss America program can change someone's life."

Miss America Volunteers Make a Difference.
Join the tens of thousands of volunteers who are currently reaping personal and professional rewards from their involvement in the Miss America program.
In an average year, local and state Miss America programs dedicate more than 500,000 hours to over 9,000 community service projects, raising millions of dollars annually for community-based charitable organizations.
They raise scholarship funds that enable thousands of young women each year to achieve their educational and career goals.
They create opportunities for young women's voices to be heard across the nation on important social issues.
They help young women gain the personal and professional skills they need to succeed in life.
Volunteer opportunities can be very minimal time commitments, such as helping on pageant day, or more involvement by helping contestants prepare for the Miss San Diego and San Diego's Outstanding Teen Pageant or serving on the "prep team" to prepare the newly crowned Miss San Diego & San Diego's Outstanding Teen for the California State pageants.
